Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site in eastern Massachusetts, in Brookline.
The site preserves the home and office of America's leading  landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, who created some 5,000  public and private landscapes—including New York's Central Park and the  U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington, DC. In 1883, Olmsted opened the  Brookline office that would be inherited by his sons, associates, and  successors, and which would eventually become a vital part of America's  national heritage. More than 1 million landscape design documents were  produced at Olmsted's home and office, and the grounds are now a living  exhibit of the artist's design ideals. The site was established in 1979.
